cds 2015: 3rd IEEE International Workshop on Consumer Devices and Systems 2015

July 1, 2015-July 5, 2015 in Taichung, Taiwan

Call for Papers

The aim of CDS is to discuss and advance the state-of-the-art, research and development in the area of consumer devices and systems, and to promote the study of both fundamental and practical aspects of such devices and systems. The workshop addresses researchers from different disciplines in academia and industry, as well as practitioners, who share interests in consumer devices and systems. The focus will be on novel consumer devices and systems, experiences drawn from development of such devices and systems, and emerging technologies for such devices and systems.

Consumer devices and systems are rapidly becoming smarter than ever before. These devices include AV devices, home appliances, mobile phones, home gateway, healthcare devices and wearable devices. Such devices have computing and communication functions, and can even communicate with each other. Networks for consumer devices are also emerging rapidly. However, such networks suffer from incompatibility. Integrated architecture, protocol and middleware for consumer networks are required for advanced systems for consumer devices. Such systems include home energy management systems (HEMS), digital healthcare systems, home security systems, social network services, systems that allow home appliance control from one’s mobile phone, and so on. In addition, the notion of a smart home and a smart city have gained attention recently. Cloud computing supports such applications. The purpose of CDS is to provide a forum for researchers and engineers to present research results in this area.

Any submission whose content is relevant to the area of consumer devices and systems will be considered, but any submission whose subject matter is related to one of the following topics will be particularly welcome:

Smart Consumer Devices (e.g. Smart Phone, Smart TV, Home GW, Wearable Device) Novel Architecture, Protocol and Middleware for Consumer Networks Novel Systems and Applications for Consumer Devices Smart Home and Smart City Energy Management (e.g. HEMS/BEMS, Smart Grid) Security, Privacy and Management Issues for Consumer Devices and Systems M2M Communications for Consumer Devices and Networks Social Network Services for Consumer Devices Emerging Technologies for Consumer Devices and Systems (e.g. Cloud Computing)

Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished research papers as well as industrial practice papers. Simultaneous submissions to other publications and conferences are not permitted.

The length of a camera ready paper will be limited to 6 pages (IEEE Proceedings style) with up to 2 additional pages (with charges for each additional page) printed on 10-12 point fonts.

Authors must follow IEEE CS Press Proceedings Author Guidelines to prepare papers. At least one of the authors of each accepted paper is required to pay full registration fee and present the paper at the workshop in person.
