About Kjeld Schmidt

Coming from a background in sociology, my research work since 1985 has been devoted to the area of Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW). In this effort, I have been focusing on the following issues:

• The theory of cooperative work and coordinative practices as the conceptual foundation for CSCW.

• The study of coordinative practices and ordering systems (coordinative artifacts, classification schemes, coordination mechanisms).

• The theory and methodology of the analysis of cooperative work practices.

I am editor-in-chief of the journal Computer Supported Cooperative Work (http://www.springer.com/computer/journal/10606).
