About Antoanela Naaji

Antoanela Naaji is associate professor and vice-dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Engineering and Computer Science at “Vasile Goldis” Western University of Arad, Romania. She is also a director of International Relations Department at the same university. She received the M.S. degree from the Faculty of Electrotechnics in Timisoara, Romania, with a major in Automation and Computers and Ph.D. degree from “Polytechnic” University of Timisoara, Romania, in 2005 with a doctoral thesis tackling an interdisciplinary field (computer science, biomechanics, mathematics, medicine- orthopaedics). She worked in the field of computers for a company in Amman - Jordan, as a computer engineer and in 1995 she began her activity within Vasile Goldis Western University of Arad, Romania, as a system engineer, and, two years later, as an assistant professor. In 2002, she acquired her tenure as a lecturer and associate professor (in 2008), subsequently filling the positions of vice-dean and dean. As regards research activity, it was focused on developing software applications in web technologies, artificial intelligence, biomechanics (modeling of biological systems) and medicine (medical informatics). She have participated in numerous national and international conferences, and published 58 articles and 8 books. She acted as a scientific referent or a member in the organizing committee of international conferences connected to research domains, among which were: IEEE SOFA 2007, 17th EAEEIE Annual Conference on Innovation in Education for Electrical and Information Engineering (EIE), Craiova, 2006, The 7th International Conference on Technical Informatics, Timisoara, 2006, The 3rd Euro-Mediterranean Medical Informatics and Telemedicine, Mangalia, 2007, The 18th EAEEIE International Conference Innovation in Education for Electrical and Information Engineering (EIE), Prague, 2007, 29th International Conference of the Romanian Medical Informatics Society - MEDINF, Sibiu, Romania, 2007, The 8th International Conference on Technical Informatics, Timisoara, Romania, 2008, The National Conference of Health Informatics, MEDINF, Romania, 2010, The 22nd EAEEIE Annual Conference, Maribor, Slovenia, 2011, etc. She is member in professional societies such as: IEEE – Senior member (Computer Society, Computational Intelligence Society), ISOC, AGIR (General Association of Romanian Engineers), EAEEIE (European Association for Electrical Engineer and Information Engineering) and SRIM (Romanian Society for Medical Informatics). Her preoccupations in the above-mentioned fields are reflected in a number of 20 participations in national and international funded projects.
